Ok so for the ol skoolers if they remember we had a discussion "Rugby Union Vs American Football baaaaak in the days lolz, well now becoz Rugby League, Super 15z & World Cup is over *siiiiiiiiiiiighz* im getting the meaaaanest withdrawal symptomz as theres hardly any sport talk, season is over, no more screaming at the tv, no more perving on the skux guyz lolz annnnd becoz i want yall input.

Ok so for this one its RUGBY LEAGUE vs GRIDIRON?!

Rugby League:

13 Players on the field.

4 Players on the bench

10 interchanges/substitutes each game

80 minute game (40 min halves)

Positions consist of the "Backs" which in this case are known as the "smaller, faster, sneaky dudes" on the field who make up the 1st half of the team which are:

1. Fullback
2. Winger
3. Centre
4. Centre
5. Winger
6. Five Eighth
7. Halfback

Following positions consist of the "Forwards" who are the bigger, staunch, a mix of lil young gun who make up the 2nd half of the team which are:

8. Prop
9. Hooker/Dummy Half
10. Prop
11. Second Rower
12. Second Rower
13. Loose Forward

In a game of Rugby League the points systems are as follows:

Try = 4 Points
Conversion = 2 Points
Penalty Kick = 2 Points
Field Goal = 1 Point

Points get scored by carry or kick a ball down a field, crossing the ball over the opponent's goal line and grounding the ball which is a try. After a try, the scoring team gains a free kick to try at goal with a conversion – a kick for further points. The opposing team attempts to stop the attacking side gaining points by preventing their progress up the field by tackling the player carrying the ball.

Field position is crucial in rugby league, achieved by running with or kicking the ball. Passing in rugby league may only be in a backward or sideways direction. Players have to remain "on-side" by not moving ahead of the player with the ball. However the ball may be kicked ahead for teammates, but again, if they are in front of the kicker they are deemed "off-side." Tackling is a key component of rugby league play. Only the player holding the football may be tackled. A tackle is completed when that player's progress is halted, or he is put to ground. An attacking team gets a maximum of six tackles to progress up the field before possession is changed over. Ball control is also important in rugby league, as a fumble or "knock on" of the ball on the ground forces a handover, unless the ball is fumbled backwards. The ball can also be turned over by going over the sideline.

In rugby league we dont use padding, the only source of protection is a headgear or mouthguard.

Ok ima be honest i dnt no jack all abowt Gridiron hahahaha, but to the natives in here that DO, plz break it down 4 me and to the natives in here that DO enjoy both codes and wanna feedback on both codes PLEASE answer the following questions:

AMERICAN FOOTBALL ALL DAY!!! LMAO

god bless you hoodz!!! mate..many reasons why i think LEAGUE craps on union and american football..
but jus so were clear 'I' for one dont watch to perve on the footy blokes..thats just not my thing EVER!

ive played american football in my younger days..for fun..my cousin played for a team in aux called roskill rams bk in the 80s..n so im familiar with the game..personally i think it doesnt match up to league, the speed and with all the safety gear that requires to play the game....mate, all thats missing is a BIB lol..good sport but not hectic as the other 2..

union i loved! grew up watching it playing it and then having cousins making it into the all blacks..i neva wanted to play any sport but union..bt then after playing league for richmond rovers in aux (had to play for whoever my older brothers and cousins played for) bk in the day..made me interested in league. union to me is kinda aggressive as league..minus all the constant kickings the rucks and mauls that take up most of the game time which can get very boring BUT when the roll is on ITS ON!!..they dont have the hits like they do in amreican football and league but good enough to still put u on ur arse.

Rugby League to me is the most pumped up and aggressive sport out of the other 2..the tackles are not limited like union (except for headhighs and spear tackles and air tackles) nor are we fearless with our bodies like american football with all the body protection they wear..league is a fast paced game and doesnt have the constant stop like the other 2 does..like union we play on real grass..not like that artificial grass that looks like green carpet that american football sometimes play on..but theres one thing that no matter what league and union cant dispute..AMERICAN FOOTBALLERS MAKE A WHOLE SH*T LOAD MORE THAN league or union players...

League has many talents in its code...what annoys me and is a real buzz killer is a game that constantly stops every 2mins..injury not included..just the other crap..
so i think i have voiced out my opinions..many may not agree, but each to their own. CMON LEAGUE SEASON MARCH 2012 BRING BACK THE BIFF!!!

malo hoodz..kp em k**n!

League ferocious sonely the elite can enter the field............go the broncos :rulez:
good one Hoodzter :inchino:

FOR REALS! GRIDIONS HONESTLY FOR P***** AND THATS THE ONLY SPORT THEY PLAY COZ ITS THE MOST AGGRESIVER SPORT SO THATS ALL THEY CAN DO...

there are things i like and dislike about each sport. but since i grew up on that NFL tip, i'ma side wit' the NFL. i watch rugby now and then, as it's hardly shown on tv. however, i do catch some of my folks rugby games out in the fields. on some real, it can look like a thing of beauty or a hot mess. after a dude is tackled, dudes is stepping all over the place. thoughts to be continued, fia moe.

depends...now if ur talkin`rugby the likes of sonny bill  ...oh yeah...i'm so there...
n if its tim tebow :rulez: ...oka the current flavor of nfl quarterbacks...oka ia ua uma upu...lol

1. Which code do u think is more aggressive?
They both are in their own way. In Football (Gridiron) you wear the "pads and helment" because you have to run full speed and hit (tackle) the opponent HIGH or Low, sometimes using your head to the ball carriers head. I don't think you are allowed to (correct me please) hit /tackle high in Rugby.
2. Which code requires physicality rather than fitness, skills or ALL 3?
You mentioned the postitions in League requires a certain size , so it is with Football. The Defensive and Offensive linemen are usually VERY Big , for they go at it all day in the trenches or the line of scrimmage (Rugbys scrum/scrummage).
3. Which code do u enjoy most watching, screaming at the tv at or perving at lolz?
I enjoy watching American Football on TV, and unless you are talking about the girl cheerleaders- I aint perving lol. However, the Rugby 7's have taken off here in the US over the last few years and it is very exciting to watch. League is almost never on TV here in the US, but union is exciting to watch. I'll probably take heat on here for this, but I do tend to cheer more of NZ's All blacks over any other national team.

Here in the U.S, believe or not, Rugby is a big time sport, especially in the major Colleges and Universities. And if you ever catch a National Collegiate Rugby match on TV ..a growing number of players are either Samoan, Tongan, Kiwi or Aussie- go figure. Also, a lot of American football players also play Rugby for their school or local clubs.

You can't argue for which is better because it depends entirely with what you grew up playing or spectating! Nice post!
Offense:

Defense:

TouchDown (TD) 6 points

PAT (point after TouchDown ) Kick 1 point
OR Two point conversion (after touchdown) run or pass 2 points

Field Goal (kick) 3 points
Safety (you are tackled in your own endzone by the Defense) 2 points

Time outs per half : 3

commericals if you are watching the NFL: too many dayum interruptions! < one thing that Rugby is better at- the clock never stops! I wish they had this in American football!

Nice points u have pointed out in the styles of NFL..reason being for the all the safety gear is to protect yourself therefore head high tackles are allowed?? please correct me if wrong..league and union r basicially the same..but only from below neck tackles are legal..if you have watched enough union, u will see that their forward packs they too use their heads first when making a burst run to break their opponents line..hmmm? no helmets their?..it has been said thru several interviews..coaches from the NFL sport AND NFL players have commented that American football to them is no way near as severe with all the body to body (minus the protection) contact invovles and the speed of the game compared to league..NFL has some huge units in their game..alot bigger than most league and union players (without their protection on) so huge that it always raises the question..roid rage fanatics?? it must cross ur fellas minds too cos some dudes just look too abnormal for their ridiculous size!!! LEAGUE 4 LIFE!! all blacks world champs :rulez:

now, now...to each their won :D...i'll tell u one thing NFL does have over RUGBY...MONEY N LOTS OF IT...ROLLIN`IN THE DEEP FOR SURE FOR AMERICAN NFL ATHLETE`S THAT`S WHY SOME OF THEM R freakin`ginormous even with their gear off...cause they CAN AFFORD IT!...

hmmm? so ur sayn cos they have money they can afford to b ginormous??...really?? i honestly didnt know that :hmmm: ..must be some good ROIDS goin around ur ways aye

rugbys my life..yes   :rulez: :rulez:

breaststroke my game....lets go swimming :rotfl: :rotfl:
