Stealing is illegal in Samoa - even for cops!

...from some of the stories i've heard, you kinda wonder sometimes whether theft is prohibited or encouraged in the islands. Good to know even Samoa's law draws a line somewhere ... :)

Former Samoa police officer jailed for theft

A former Samoa police officer has been jailed for 2 years for ordering prisioners under his charge to steal.

Maletino Poli was accused of instructing prisoners at the Oloamanu Centre to steal coconuts and ta’amu which was used for ther prisoner’s food.

He wascharged with three counts of theft, and convicted and discharged of one count, but sentenced to six months imprisonment for the second charge.

The former policeman was also convicted of the third charge involving the theft of 60 ta’amu or giant taro from a neighbouring plantation at Mulifanua where the Centre is located.

He was sentenced to two years at Tafaigata as a result of this offence.

Lmaoooo poor copper,he must be hella hungry for ordering them prisoners to steal that giant taro for their evening meal.not new...only in samoa: that coppers took matters into their own hands :rotfl:

That is ridiculous :lol: Stealing Taamu? Does he have a ma'umaga? Taamu is so plentiful in SAmoa and now he is locked up for it xD Talofae, ua ova le faavalevalea! :muro:

U'll think that we're safe with A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, like the Polices, geeshy!
but, OH NO, huh..

I think it's just sad, that:

a. these prisoners aren't made to CLEAN UP THE STREETS of Apia, FULL OF rubbish, "What A Joke!" people, get cracking..

b. or just clean up the entire Nation, you know_.. very hot weather Samoa has..

I personally can't talk, my cousin and self stole a RIPPED guava o our way up to the ma'umaga, hahaa..
well it's just that the next time we tried to get some from the same tree, the man who owns the land, was vele vao there the next couple of days, bloody neighbours, "U have big mouths".. :rotfl:

You should maybe look through all the articles I've posted before you decide what kind of articles I'm only able to find.

This news bit here is not necessarily negative either. It's a matter of perspective and I like to think mine is more neutral than it is antagonistic. (okay maybe it's a liiiiittle bit a'amu lol)

From the beginning of time (at least in the ville) everyone's been encouraged to post up their own news items for our NewsWatch, so while your opinion of this story is always welcome, your pretence of offering me your 'help'? ...not so much.

How about get over yourself and post up your own articles already?

Hmmm a former police officer..huh.. and he is in jail for 2yesrs.. oh well, no worries, he's on vacation..hahahaha. he's not gonna do any fe'aus for his family, and he ain't spending his time in Tafa'igata either..hahahahaha
