Superwoman

When you look at me, all you see are my:
Glasses sittin on weird brown mountains
my outrageous curls in a “trying to contain” bun,
flat nose and weird slanted eyes

You see my Samoan posture:
my oversized belly
leading to my trunk size thighs
meeting my "oh no she didn't” wear that skirt “with those taro calves"

But...

I look into the mirror
and see that tummy as, "dam I want some of that"
I look myself dead in the eye and say
I. LOVE. YOU. Like I. LOVE. FOOD
I take my lavalava and tie it to the nape of my neck
my cape in all its glory of a waving flag effect

And these lips, these gigantic jujue lips
Women pay money injections and pain to have them
For just one day

My brown skin, the skin that was once second, third, fourth preference to
white Ivory skin
Women and Men subject their skin to harsh ultraviolet rays in hopes
that their shades seem as natural as mines

Those Taro calves, those luscious ripe taro calves
that men get so insecure to stand near
I AM showing them off

And these thighs, these thick caramel made tree trunks
it’s time to appreciate them for carrying the hidden superwoman

But don’t get it twisted, don’t be mistaken
This is not a plea for obesity

this is for every woman that has looked into a magazine and felt insecure
This is for every woman that has been criticized for being a double digit size
This is for every woman that is different and recognizes it
This is for every woman who has been turned down for a job because of her gender, color, or hair texture
This is for every woman whose looked in the mirror and wished someone else's reflection

Open your shirts and flex the S upon your chest, and if possible flex those breasts
Because You, I, we are Super f****** Sexy

ahaha.. sis man when i remember first writing this... i remember rehearsing it.. and my professor telling me that I had made his week. lol..
