And when they compete soon at the Oceania Pacific Cup in Fiji, they'll get to play for the first time on astro-turf .. which is different from the real grass they're used to cause real grass makes the ball move slower...

Samoa to expose young talent to artificial turf
THE Samoan men's and women's hockey teams will expose new talent when the side competes at the Oceania Pacific Cup (OPC) at the National Hockey Centre in Laucala Bay, Suva today.
The side finished third in the tournament last year and team coach Fa'amausili Taiva says they will try and better their standing this year.
But Taiva said the main aim was to give the new players a chance to play on an artificial turf.
"Our team play on the grass courts at the Faleata Sporting Complex in Tuanaimato and we the selectors thought it would be a good opportunity for the younger players to get a chance to play on a artificial turf," he said.
"There is only about four senior men and five senior women that are returning from last year's team and we will try and give these younger players a chance to get a feel of the artificial turf."
The team was the first overseas side to arrive into the country and Taiva said it was to their advantage as they got the first training run at the National Hockey Centre.
