A What?
A screenshot is basically an image of what you've got up on your screen right now. For example, this is what I see right now:
People use screenshots for a number of reasons ... mostly just to share with other people what it is they see on their screens. Duh. But it can also be used to take still shots from a youtube video, or to steal pictures that have the right-click disabled *kale* ..at least, that's what somebody told me.
How to Take it
Ok, so once you're on the page you want to capture, all you have to do is hold down the CONTROL and the ALT buttons, then click the PRINT SCREEN button.
The CONTROL button is at the bottom left hand side of your keyboard, and is usually spelled
CTRL. The ALT button is usually a couple buttons away from CTRL, but the PRINT SCREEN button is sometimes spelled
PRT SC and is usually at the top right hand side of the keyboard (above or near the number keypad).
So you got it?
CTRL + ALT + PRT SC
When you click on these three buttons together, it's going to look like nothing happened.. ooh, but don't be deceived!
What Now?
Now you have to open up a photo/image editor program, like PAINT.
Once you've got that open, just click PASTE (or CRTL + V) and magically, the screenshot you took will appear there. The image will be big - it should fill up your whole screen.
That's when you want to use the image editing tools, like CROP or RESIZE to focus on a specific part of your screenshot.
When you've got a final image that you like, SAVE it. Now you can use this image the way you use any picture online. Here in the ville, use the IMAGE icon above your text box... that's this thing:
...to upload the image to your discussion or post.
Got it?
:)
