Hi fellow Island Writers - Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I'm new to Samoana and excited to find a thriving community of Polynesian writers. I'm a writer based in Auckland - we just moved here from Apia and we're slowly getting used to our first winter...Im the author of "Pacific Tsunami Galu Afi" which was published last year on the 29/09 anniversary. I write short fiction, children's stories and am preparing to release the first book in my YA urban fantasy romance series, "TELESA" later this year. I love blogging and sharing ideas with other bloggers from all around the world. I draw a lot on my parenting experiences in my blogging - Im the mother of five - who keep me forever (tired) busy and young. I look forward to learning from all of you in this forum.

Talofa Writers!

Been awhile! Well, been busy the past month (April) with a writing challenge called SCRIPTFRENZY. They had it every year, and this year I wanted to see if I could do it...and yayyyy, I did. What it is, you have 30 days to complete 100 pages (screenplay, short story, novel...whatever). It sounds easy, until you start writing. There are a lot of distractions along the way in way of jobs, family, other obligations, and most def, WRITER'S BLOCK! But, I'm pleased to say that I did complete it, and not only the 100 pages but 112!

I'm hoping next go around, that some of my fellow Island Writers will join me as well. I hope you are all writing!

Sorry, it's been awhile since our last post and I see we've gained a few more writers and lost some. I hope you who are still with the group will continue to write...it doesn't have to be screenplays either, just write!

Please be patient with me while I work on our next project.

I've been out of the loop for a minute or two...you know Samoan time is not the same as, well you get the point!

Anyhow, just dropped to welcome all our new writers and hopefully you've gotten a chance to read some of the discussions we've had on this fantastic site!

Getting back to the root of the site, your story. First, if you don't know already, you have to start with a great idea and then work your way to the actual storyline.

So, for all you newbies that have just joined us, and for those of you already committed, I have a project for you. Start a journal of any ideas you have for a movie. It can be one word or two or three...whatever, just start it!

Okay writers, this is your mission and if you choose to accept it, you are on your way to creating a must see flick!

By the way, I'm heading to Oahu in Feb of 2011 for my niece's wedding. If any of you live out that way I'd love to join up for a meet and greet.

I apologize for being a no show for awhile...but, I'm back. In answer to Pacificpearl's question...this is a forum for screenplays; however, stageplays work as well.

Got fun stuff in the works, so keep checking in. This is our year Island Writers!

Heya Tau!!! Apologies for MY disappearance act.. It's been kinda a hectic month, a ea? I've barely had a chance to finish a blog post much less a screenplay.. but I always get inspired when I stop by here.
