Samoans - there's lots of different kinds of us.
Something strange happened to Big Son when we moved to New Zealand. Something that involved a lavalava, the siva and 'real' Samoans. Our children have spent their entire lives in Samoa - interspersed with holidays in Auckland so even though…

I am a daughter of the cleverest woman in the world. The most capable, most multi-talented woman in the world. My mother can sew, cook, pickle, bake, preserve, paint, knit, embroider, crochet, write stories worth reading, give speeches that move you, weave, fashion design, sculpt, screenprint, dance ballet and tap, sing, ice skate, re-upholster a chair and make a three course meal worthy of serving to the Queen - using only a lettuce leaf, a can of herrings and a sniff of mint. (just to name…

First there was the Horse Whisperer. And that boy "I see dead people." And of course, the ever-stunning, Ghost Whisperer. And now, in the Young family, we have our very own otherworldly communicator...The Beast is speaking to creatures big and small. Like mosquitoes.
There was a bloodsucker hovering around her juicy plump leg. I shooed it and tried to slap it into oblivion.
"Bella, see the namu! I get it. Mummy will kill it!"
I was halted by an aggrieved shriek. "Mama…

The Hot Man has been avidly watching the TV series “The Walking Dead.” So have I. I shut my eyes most of the time but I have this horrible fascination with a show that tells us in gory detail, what happens when the world is taken over by flesh eating zombies. I hate it but I have to watch it. Because I’m doing research. Because this could TOTALLY happen. And when it does, I want to be ready.
We Mormons are food and water hoarders. We are taught that every family must have a good…

still. His breath was hot against my skin as, hesitantly, his lips met my cheek, lingered and then danced to my mouth. When his lips touched mine, they were feather soft and gentle. His hands came up to cradle my face as we kissed, caressing my throat delicately as if he feared I would shatter in his embrace. He tasted like he smelled. Sweet pineapple and a salty edge of coconut. All my senses drank him in deeply. He was the exhilaration of the rushing falls against my naked skin on a steaming tropical night, the burn of volcanic rock, baked hot in the noon-day sun. He was the caress of a jasmine fragranced breeze as I danced barefoot in a moonlit night. He was all this and more. I drank him in deeply, my hands moving of their own accord to clutch fistfuls of his tousled hair."
That had to be the best ever description of a kiss that Ive ever read! Keep up the awesome effort Lani - I am truly a fan of your work! Stay blessed suga!
