It took a while, but I finally GOT THERE, aye - norm!
I spent 2wks in Samoa & I found it to be NOT ENOUGH, not enough TIME to do the things, I wanted to do, NOT ENOUGH MONEY to give out to every (1) asking, NOT ENOUGH MA'A for the mea pu'eaka, & never, NEVER fa'akamala solo ur camera, cause; U'LL find some valea lima will not know how to work it and that same valea lima will just delete your well cherished photos,..
OH' HOW SHAME, all them NEW OUT FITS I ran around Apia wif, ia ga le laia, ALL I can say is, don't fa'akamala and mimika your things, perhaps, I was more lucky not to have it stolen, PERHAPS!
All in all, my Nu'u treated me like a ROYAL PRINCESS, they cared for me MORE than they were friendly, they knew whom I was, and I just felt like I belonged, at no time, I socialise with the LOCALS in our Village, they knew straight away I was from overseas, NOT SURE if it's because they were told prior, or my lite tan skin tone, gave it away, WHO KNOWS..got told whom I was, next to ppl, I knew nothing off, and above all, I got to see where BOTH MY GREAT-GRAND-PARENTS were buried, in the Nu'u I was born in, so that in itself was a BLIZT filled moment, I shall never forget.
I fell inlove with (our) Local Bus driver hahaa (ssshhh), his a NOFO TANE in our Village, but, I think that's because, I got up most mornings, went for my daily stroll up and down the mountain, UKA 'n' KAI and ia, walked back to the FALE, have a shower and got ready to go into APAI, asif: I were a TOURIST, hehee.
The bus ride to Apia took about an hour from our village, the bus started running at 5.00 in the morning, and the last bus was at 5.00 in the arvo..
as suppose to the airport ride, which takes, almost 2 'n' a half hour car ride from the airport to our village, *argh* hehee
The fact that every neighbours ROOSTER started running their throats off at 4.00, had no bother on my sleep most mornings, I think it was more the FOREVER changing humide climate that got me, I mean; It was always, always hot, but we were like HIGH UP in the MOUNTAINS, I never felt the chills once, I feel 'here' with the 4 seasons in 1 day a'TAR, Melbourne has, "You Know?"..
That was/is real rain forest weather, something I've never captured ever..
The best thing, I got to see and felt it to be amazing, was HOW THESE PURE WHITE ASS CLOUDS foamed up in the mountain distance from my sight, where other mountains stood, much higher than where I was standing, in our front yard type of thing, with no1 residing in them mountains, them smoke clouds that were foaming, like asif, somebodies cooking mea'ai in their mukuka, descended into the SKY and from there, GOD KNOWS WHERE THEY TRAVEL: to me, that was just such an amazing sight, right in front of me, I wondered if I chased it, will there be a POT OF GOLD AT THE END OF them clouds, that had no colors, "You know?"..
I asked my HOST what it was on my 5th morning, cause; - I thought it was other neighbouring houses up in the mountains, when my HOST told me what it was, I felt like my head couldn't stop saying "WHOW!"..
That & The markings on the beach..
in our Village, the BEACH AREA is marked out, so you know where your beach area is, somebody in KAI will tell you, esspecially if you're from UKA and you're new to the area, where to swim.
I didn't ask "Why that was so", but I did get told, The STONES 'n' ROCKS from SOLOSOLO are always been brought by people in Apia or overseas, & that to me was FASICATING to know, I guess - that & a), I've got my own BEACH area in Samoa, & b) where I can CALL MINE, and that c.) people actually buy OUR STONES 'n' ROCKS to make concrete 'n' what not, you know "DOUBLE WHOW, WHOW"..
I had a beautiful HOST, a) second cousin on my mother's mother's side, she was always there for me her name was Aotearoa, as you cannot imagine the laugher building in my head right about now, she was even willing to lay her life down for me, when we went strolling up and down the mountain, cause THE DOGS, oh' my God, how about I just see atleast 500 DOGS on my way home from the airport on the first morning there, like, DOGS that run around Samoa, I'm starting to personally think, there's more DOGS in Samoa, than there are LIZARDS, FLIES, BUGS 'n' PEOPLE, a ea, GEESH'.. hehee
You can always tell when a DOG comes from a family, or it belongs to some1`, it LOOKS Healthy 'n' Well, the stray dogs are skinny ass, with that fa'anoanoa look, asif: "God, END MY LIFE" - type of thing.. ):, kalofae..
There were cats and cows and pigs, Oh my life, the PIGS are just like the DOGS, they run around free ass, PLS Mr Car Man, open your eyes, whilst your driving around OUR BENDS, ai?.. hehee
As for the DATELINE changes, I DID find that the villagers were prepared for it, infact: I was to proud to know, I wasn't the only GUESS from Overseas our Village was 'hosting', there were quite afew of us, atleast 4-5 families from Sydney, 3-4 from New Zealand, 1 from Perth, and Myself from Victoria, the 1 from Perth is a CHILDHOOD Friend, her Grandmother was the MIDWIVE that helped my mother give birth to me, the story is, I was still in the SACK when I came out of my mother and that MIDWIVE opened the sack, my grand-father, my mother's father was the 1st person to hold me, they say, the villagers came around our FALE with GIFTS, etc..
for the special child that was born in the village, hehee "&, here I am".. hahaa
But, most of the Matais felt that the time went faster, no time to do the things they had in mind, and the FLOCK of people going over to Samoa during the year, ia kalofae, a ea..
Um, had a crush on the bus driver, no haired 'man' with the maddest SCAREY look, i've ever steared@, hooked up with the boy next door, DON'T ASK what a (prick) hahaa, The Security at the MO'OTO'ATUA hospital wanted to go out on a date, just one with nothing happening, ONLY A HICKIE (bhah) I tried to hide, snap! LMFHO..
&, I'm mostly trying not to feel anything for the cable guy, cause; - that's just WRONG brou, WRONG!~ haha,
Heaps in domain of "OULALA", but my cousin, whom I went with told me to be careful, she's alright, she goes to Samoa and stays in Apia nearlly EVERY YEAR, from ages, where as this is my first time and I didn't want to be like a "FIAPOKO", you know?..
I was even told that the crew for SIONE'S WEDDING was in Apia, for the premier of their new release "SIONE'S WEDDING, unfinish business", but I didn't get to see them, I was mainly out in the village area, but was greatful for my one night at aggies if that helps.. LOL
She said, some guys don't say they are married with kids, some guys be playing you stupid, but if there wives find out and they find you in Apia, they will BASH YOU TO DEALTH, Oh my gosh, NOT REALLY ONE to pala'ai with peoples kalas, but how about that sounds about right, the village confirmed this with me aswell, during my 1st weekend, they said "If you're in the village, that's alright, who ever comes 'here', all the ladies will get together and bash them, but if I go to Apia, and I'm doing the wrong, they can't help me"..
GEE', how you think, I'm trying to TELL THE CABLE GUY to take the straight and narrow path, haha, Mr Fia "OKA", forget it.. bhahaa
Oh' well, that's me for now, I was merely tryna to put the photos, I DID capture up, but there is a CABLE that has gone for a walkabout 'here' in our Local Library, *argh*..
& I mustin forget to mention, my cousin & I had breakfast with "Brian Lima", the captain of the MANU Samoa Rugby team at "AGGIE", with his wife and I think, their family, but "Oh my gosh, how big was my head, esspecially cause, by this time, I was seeing a lot of him on the ONE CHANNEL we did have going for (us) in our Nu'u, hahaa, which was channel one..
Coming back 'here', was really SAD, I cried in the va'alele on the way back, cause - it was only then, I realised, how much excited I was to be going to Samoa, how much PROFOUNDED I was to even be there, and when leaving I realise NOT ONCE DID I WORRY ABOUT MY KIDS, I mean, there were times where I felt, bad 'n' guilty, but it was only for a breif while, never made it to short.
I did cop it with them when I came back, not really contacting any1 when I was over there, it took about 3-4 days later before my mom got through & even then, I wasn't home, I had gone to the river for a swim, or gone to Apia for a BUZZ.
The reality was, I didn't take a phone with me, I basically FELT LIKE, I was there to relaxe from the pressures of SUBURIEN living, now that I'm back, I've started Uni, organise the kids back to school & Karate and the scarific I'm making this year to go back is to LESSEN the wants abit, NO MORE GYM TIME for me, as UNI is full on, and my kids school, my eldest is grade 4 this year and my youngest is grade 1..
I came back feeling like, I want TO GO TO SAMOA and WORK their for 2yrs, as an Australia Citizen, Samoan Resident, HEY!..
If there's one thing, I've learnt in my WHOLE Entire life 'here' on Earth, HEAVEN FELT! & that is, YOU CAN BE ANYTHING U WANNA BE, just don't stop dreaming & start LIVING!singing favouriate song from Samoa, "I'm drinking RED BULL & RUM".. haha Jaichoo
